About Us

Waypoint Periodontics is where precision, compassion, and respect come together to guide patients toward lifelong oral health.

Helping you feel informed, comfortable, and confident in your care

Periodontal care can feel intimidating, and we built Waypoint Periodontics with that in mind. From the moment you walk through our doors, you'll find a calm, judgment-free space where your goals and concerns genuinely matter. We meet every patient where they are, recognizing that each person brings a unique set of needs and circumstances. Our approach is thoughtful and minimally invasive, rooted in biology and long-term thinking rather than quick fixes. Whether you are coming in for the first time or returning for ongoing care, our mission is the same: to serve as a trusted, grounding point on your journey to lifelong oral health.

Board-certified periodontist

Dr. Lavanya Rajendran

Dr. Lavanya Rajendran (Dr. Lav) is a board-certified periodontist focused on precise, minimally invasive care and long-term oral health.

Born and raised in Cheshire, Connecticut, she attended undergraduate studies at New York University and went on to earn her dental degree from Western University of Health Sciences in California. She then returned home to complete her periodontal residency at the University of Connecticut.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Rajendran enjoys traveling the world with her husband, Josh, and learning from different cultures and communities. The places that have resonated most are those where she felt genuinely welcomed, valued, and cared for - an experience she believes should extend to healthcare.

Her approach is centered on creating a calm, grounding environment where patients feel at ease, informed, and supported. Waypoint Periodontics is designed to thoughtfully guide patients on their journey to lasting oral health

What to expect

Your first visit, from start to finish

1

A Warm Welcome

From the moment you arrive, you will notice that Waypoint feels different. Our reception area is intentionally quiet and free of screens, designed to help you decompress rather than add to the noise.

2

A comprehensive exam

We will take the time to review your health history, listen to your concerns, and complete a thorough periodontal examination. Using advanced diagnostic tools including cone beam CT imaging and an intraoral scanner, she will assess your gum health, bone levels, and any areas of concern with a high degree of precision. Every situation is unique, and she will evaluate your anatomy carefully before making any recommendations.

3

On-Call support after hours

For urgent post-operative concerns outside of regular office hours, calls are directed to a dedicated on-call line so you are never left without support when you need it most.

Our technology

Advanced tools for precise, predictable care.

Cone beam CT (CBCT) imaging

CBCT imaging gives us a detailed, three-dimensional view of your teeth, gums, and bone structure, allowing her to plan surgical procedures with a level of precision that two-dimensional X-rays simply cannot provide. This translates to more predictable outcomes and a higher standard of care for every patient.

Intraoral scanner

Our digital intraoral scanner captures detailed images of your mouth quickly and comfortably, eliminating the need for traditional impressions. These images support precise treatment planning and can be used to create customized surgical guides for guided implant surgery.

PerioLase (LANAP laser)

The PerioLase is the laser system used to perform LANAP, which stands for Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure. This minimally invasive, FDA-cleared treatment targets diseased tissue while preserving healthy tissue, allowing us to stabilize periodontal disease with less discomfort and downtime than traditional surgery in many cases.
